Week Ten - Homeless

Jeff likes to tell people we’re homeless. For the next two weeks we’re volunteering to build houses with Habitat for Humanity in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. To make our 200 square foot camper a home, for me it needs flowers and for Jeff, coffee. I might also like some décor - flannel sheets, ambient lighting, books and the digital photo frame full of memories. It’s the simple things really. We’re working on three homes for three single moms and six children. One mom was asked what she was looking forward to the most. She said, “Never being told I have to leave.” In Bible Study Fellowship this year we’re studying the exile and return of God’s people from the land of Israel - a whole nation, homeless. They had to leave because they rejected their God, His holy covenant with them and defiled the land by shedding innocent blood. What is so amazing is that God will not abandon them! He will bring them home. But first, HE must renovate their hearts or this relationship ...
